I was diagnosed with H. pylori and took antibiotics. After that I developed severe constipation and anal discomfort. Later I was told it’s IBS and advised to increase fibre. Now I have alternating constipation and acid reflux, along with bloating, frequent burping, and trapped gas. What is happening and what should I do?
This seems like post-antibiotic gut sensitivity. Usually the antibiotics will kill the bacteria, but the damage that the bacteria and the antibiotics do to the stomach lining and gut microbiome is lasting if proper care is not taken to restore it back to health. The gases and constipation is a sign that the gut microbiome is imbalanced and needs to be stabilized. I would suggest avoiding stronger fibres like bran, raw salads, etc as they will cause more gases. Shift to softer soluble fibres like psyllium husk and okra water. Sip warm water + ghee in the early morning on an empty stomach. And walk for 15-20 mins to help release the trapped gas after meals. If nothing has worked so far, it doesn't mean you're beyond healing. It means the approach was incomplete — treatments tried in isolation, without the sequence that makes them stick. Every patient who walks into Thavira has tried something before. Most have tried everything. And most of them heal — completely, permanently — because for the first time, all the right treatments are working together in the right order. Our AYUSH-certified doctors will build that protocol around your body and your life. The healing you've been looking for is still possible.
