Bloating
Question

I have heavy bloating and frequent episodes of hiccups post meal. My blood reports suggest I have increased inflammation. How are all of these together and most importantly I never understood why I keep getting hiccups without reason?

Doctor's Answer

Hello, increased inflammation means the gut is also inflammed slowly damaging the lining leading to poor enzyme secretions. If your food is not breaking down properly then it stays for a longer duration therefore fermenting and releasing gases. This is the reason why your are alwyas blaoted and especially after meal you feel heavy. Too much gas trapped will apply pressure on the sphincter and your diagphram causing the hiccups especailly after meals. Try to have meals in smaller portions and once in 2 hours fill yourself with something - eihter teas, snacks or juices to prevent hiccups. Have a glass of warm water with turmeric in the morning to help with body's inflammation.
