Question

I have constant burping and bad breath for a long time. Endoscopy showed a bacterial infection. Medicines helped only while I was taking them, but symptoms came back after stopping. I want a permanent solution because it affects my confidence.?

Doctor's Answer

This usually means the infection was suppressed but digestion and gut balance were not fully corrected, so gas formation and reflux returned once medicines stopped. Weak stomach digestion and food fermentation are common causes. Eat small, regular meals. Stop tea, coffee, onion, garlic and spicy foods. Take 10-15 mins walk to reduce gas and burping. If symptoms dont improve, please contact our doctors so we can guide you better.

When symptoms return after finishing medication, the infection may not have fully cleared, or the gut environment was not corrected to prevent regrowth. The bacterial balance, stomach acid levels, and lining integrity all need to be addressed together.

Every month you delay treating the root cause, the gut lining takes more damage. The longer the inflammation continues, the harder it becomes to reverse — and the more the condition spreads into other systems. Fatigue. Hormonal imbalance. Skin flare-ups. Anxiety. What starts as acidity or bloating rarely stays just that. At Thavira Health, our AYUSH-certified doctors have seen what years of unaddressed gut dysfunction does to the body — and what's possible when it's treated correctly.
