I have ulcerative colitis since 2 years and even the medicines are not able to control my flare-ups. My digestion is poor - how can I take things back to control?

Doctor's Answer

Hello, ulcerative colitis is a type of IBD where ther is inflammation of your large intestine. Most medicnes focus on controlling your diarrrheal episodes or an immunosuppresant to control the flare-ups but none of them majorly focus on improving the internal damaged conditon of the gut lining. With the damaged gut lining your nutrients are not absorbed strongly and that's why your digestion is poor. Start by noticing the trigger factors for your flare-ups, make a note of them and eliminate them - it can be food or situation. Along with this start in the morning warm water with turmeric to reduce your body's inflammation. Shift to anti-inflammatory diet but avoid all raw foods. Still if the problem persists, book a call with one of our doctors for better guidance.
