Doctor's Answer

Sour taste in mouth is a sign of belching, which means there is poor gut motility along with low acid levels. I would suggest starting a low carb diet to control H.Pylori growth. We need to slowly taper the antacids as your symptoms will feel better, but in the long run it is making your gut health worse. There is also a sign associated with IBS-Mixed type - which needs to be addressed with anti-inflammatory factors. I would suggest taking turmeric + black pepper to control the inflammation and consult with us so we can slowly start tapering the antacids and bring your acid levels and gut motility back to normal.

Your doctor wasn't wrong to prescribe what they did. Antacids reduce acid. PPIs suppress production. Antibiotics kill bacteria. Each treatment does exactly what it's supposed to. What conventional medicine doesn't provide is the next step — healing the damage those years of medication left behind, and rebuilding the gut so it doesn't need the medication anymore. That's where Thavira Health comes in. Our AYUSH-certified doctors treat the gap between symptom management and permanent healing.
