Acid Reflux
Question

I have indigestion. My morning stool is loose, evening stool is normal. Burps get stuck in my chest, and after that I get palpitations, anxiety, and chest pain. What is happening and what can I do?

Doctor's Answer

This seems like gas reflux and indigestion which is causing gas bubbles to come up to the chest leading to palpiations. It is not anything serious, but I can understand that it feels scary. I would suggest you start taking warm water sipping throughout the day. The vagus nerve is not working properly so vagus nerve stimulation and breathwork exercises can help you out with calming down the nerve. I would suggest booking a consultation so we can teach you the exercises 1 to 1 and make sure you practice them correctly.

Gas reflux causing palpitations is well-documented and is far more common than most cardiologists recognise. Once the vagus nerve is calmed and gas formation reduces, the palpitation episodes typically resolve on their own.

Most patients come to us braced for restriction — another list of foods to avoid, another strict regimen to follow. What they find is the opposite. Because as the gut heals, it becomes more resilient. Week by week, the foods that used to trigger symptoms become tolerable. The energy comes back. The anxiety around eating fades. Most patients describe the experience not as difficult, but as the most worthwhile thing they did for themselves. Thavira Health's AYUSH-certified doctors personalise this journey for every patient — 7 modalities, sequenced to your body, adjusted every week. Begin yours at thavira.health.
