I have chest burning sensation. What is the root cause of this?
Chest burning sensation is mostly because of acid coming up to the esophagus leading to inflammation of the esophageal lining. This causes the burning sensation. Usually low stomach acid or Lax LES causes the sphincter to stay partially open leading to the acid coming up. Prolonged PPI or antacid abuse can also aggravate this condition in the long run. I would suggest consulting with us so we can know what stage you are at and guide you accordingly about whether to taper the PPI or not, and whether we can start enzymes and digestive supports.
Oesophageal inflammation from chronic acid exposure does not heal on its own while the reflux continues. Addressing the root cause — low stomach acid, lax LES, or bacterial imbalance — is what allows the oesophageal lining to repair properly.
Everything you tried probably had clinical value. The probiotic, the herbs, the diet — each one is part of the answer. But gut healing isn't about the ingredients. It's about the order. You can't rebuild good bacteria without first healing the lining. You can't heal the lining without removing what's damaging it. You can't do any of it sustainably without addressing the nervous system. At Thavira Health, our doctors follow the sequence — and that changes everything.
